10 Good Men: The Final Story of the B-17

Big News and New Showings Added

Some big news for you guys in this one! First off, in case you missed it, the term "historian" is apparently being used very loosely these days! Perhaps you might recognize this face.

I was lucky enough to be featured in History Channel's new series, Modern Marvels: WWII. The special three-part series premiered this past week and finished up on Monday! Although they still have some work to do, I am thrilled to see the History Channel talking about history again. Hopefully they continue to do so.

Here is a brief snippet from the series where I am featured in case you are interested! In this one, I am discussing the iconic A-11 wristwatch.

Now that you are done laughing at my Hollywood debut, we can talk about something a little more important—the new screenings added for 10 Good Men! And the upcoming one is, without a doubt, the biggest so far—and possibly ever.

This Friday, August 7th, we will be showing 10 Good Men for the first time in the state of Arizona at the historic Fox Tucson Theatre! But perhaps more important than sharing this with all of you is the fact that we will have some of the actual veterans from the film in attendance!

Right now (pending health or unforeseen circumstances, of course), Walter Ram, Radioman of 94th Bomb Group; Richard Bushong, Pilot of the 390th Bomb Group; and Harvey Horn, Navigator of the 463rd Bomb Group, are tentatively going to be in attendance. This is due in large part to our presenting partner, the 390th Memorial Museum, which has worked closely with these American heroes, and they volunteer there weekly, coming out to teach visitors about their experiences.

I (TJ, the director) will also be in attendance at this showing, conducting a Q&A after the show and signing posters for anyone there! Although I certainly pale in comparison to these men, I am happy to help pass their stories along for further generations to hear. I very much hope that if you are in the area, you come out and attend this once-in-a-lifetime event.

If you are not able to make it to Tucson, no worries! We have also added some great screenings in areas around the country as well.

Lastly, many of you are likely wondering about our interview with B-24 Liberator veteran Mr. Lancaster! And I am happy to report that it was fantastic. In fact, the interview went so well and his memory was so sharp that I decided we would cut it in half! After nearly two hours, I was afraid that I would exhaust him and his family, so I asked if I could come back in a week or so to finish. He said absolutely! We heard about missions over Southern Europe, losing a commanding officer, bailing out, and taking damage from flak. Incredibly, we didn't even make it to his raid over Ploesti! (Not the 1943 raid; this was an early 1945 raid—still deadly, but not low level.) I will keep you guys posted when I finish this one!
