Why I've Spent Three Years Interviewing B-17 Veterans
Published about 2 months ago • 4 min read
The announcement:
Three years of interviewing veterans has led to this.
In case you missed it, last week I officially announced the first feature film from TJ3 Productions: 10 Good Men. After three years of hard work hunting down and interviewing the last surviving World War II aviation veterans, I am proud to announce the flagship documentary of that endeavor. This film will seek to tell the story of the B-17 Flying Fortress and the men who flew it. Specifically, 10 good men who flew it. Here is the official teaser trailer:
Unfortunately, over the years, I have learned that YouTube is a very tough platform. It incentivizes clickbait videos, negative titles, fast-paced editing, and exaggerated stories. If your videos lack these, sometimes they don't perform well. And that was not what 10 Good Men was ever going to be.
Furthermore, 10 Good Men was far more costly than I ever expected. I was thankful to raise $17,000 on Kickstarter in 2023 from supporters like you guys—which helped me get to the veterans. But making the movie itself cost far more than that. Restoring film is expensive. Hiring an Emmy Award-winning narrator is expensive. Getting professional sound design, composing, consultants, graphic designers, and animators are all expensive. But I was happy to pay it in order to finish the project. However, if I ever wanted to be able to make a real feature film like this again, I would need to try and make some of this massive investment back eventually.

Thus, 10 Good Men will not be coming to YouTube, where its success is dictated by an algorithm and it is forced to compete with a never-ending tidal wave of AI "history" slop. Instead, in my boldest endeavor yet, I will be taking the film across the nation to select theaters, events, and shows—bringing it to you guys on the big screen beginning in May of 2026. I hope this will help many more viewers see it who normally wouldn't watch my YouTube videos. I hope it allows families, friends, veterans, and a younger audience to get a chance to experience hearing these stories together—away from phones, computer screens, and the plague of AI content we are seeing fill internet platforms.
In some of these locations, it will be playing in traditional theaters, on standard theater screens like a normal movie. In others, it might be a nice venue—and I may be in attendance myself, doing a Q&A with viewers after the film. At these in-person showings, I hope to shake hands with the supporters like you who helped make these projects possible—allowing many of these veteran testimonies to live on for years to come.

Getting a film into theaters, however, is also extremely difficult. I am working around the clock right now to get showings. Right now, we have about 10 theaters across the nation that I will be announcing. Others will hopefully follow. You can see all of the dates on 10GoodMen.com once they go live early next month! I am working primarily to bring it to veteran-focused communities or cities with a military presence (places like Pensacola, Virginia Beach, and Tucson). We hope to have many of these booked in the next few weeks, and the more people attend these, the more we can add later on! If you would like to request a specific screening in your area, we will also have options for this. Please fill out the screening request form at 10GoodMen.com or send us an email at TJ3business@gmail.com! We will do our best to try to get the film into places with high demand.
After all of this throughout the summer of 2026, the film will be available worldwide on-demand on platforms like Amazon Prime (and others) on Veterans Day of this year! Also, if you prefer, we have the 10 Good MenDVD pre-order live on the website now! I will make sure to include some great bonus content for you all there too.
And finally - for anyone who would like to come to the "World Premiere", I can go ahead and give you guys the early info. It will very likely be at the Piedmont Grand Opera House in Macon, GA on Sunday May 24th and I will be doing a Q&A after the showing! I would love for any of you who can attend to be there. Tickets will be on sale shortly!
The official trailer will be coming soon - in the first week of April! At that time, the first screenings will officially be announced, and tickets should go on sale.
In the end, I simply hope that this film can be shown to as many people as possible—not just my audience on YouTube. I want families to enjoy it, veterans to enjoy it, and young people to enjoy it. Hopefully, together, we can make that happen and ensure the sacrifice of the greatest generation—and specifically, the "10 Good Men" lost on board of every missing B-17—is never forgotten.
I'll conclude my write-up there for today—otherwise I might keep going forever. And I've got more work to do. Hopefully, you guys are as excited as I am. I hope you all love it. I have stayed up many a night lately wondering if people will actually enjoy the film. But at the end of the day, I know we have done important work here. And I know the veterans that participated are grateful. And truthfully, that is the only thumbs up I need. Thank you all so much. More info on showings, tickets, and screenings will be coming soon.
-Your grateful friend, TJ
P.S. - In other good news, I am proud to announce I have located an F-86 Sabre and F-4 Phantom veteran in Nevada with over 200 combat missions flown! We are flying out next month to interview him! That is all I have for today—hopefully I will see some of you at the World Premiere in May or at other theaters throughout the summer! Thanks for reading, and I will talk to you guys soon!
I'd also like to take a moment to thank some of the people who read this newsletter who helped make this film possible—Josh K, Will E, Bryan F, Bryan T, John P, and Drew T. Thank you all so much.
